What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial Massage is massage with intent, with purpose. A regular massuer or masseuse works with the muscles and the skin, releasing tension in the top layer of muscles to create calm and destress. A remedial massage on the other hand, can work within the entire body, it's structures and it's systems. Using assessment skills and soft tissue therapy, we can determine issues within the musculo-skeletal system and aim to correct these issues. If something isn't healing fast enough we can improve the cardiovascular system to pump fresh blood with nutrients to the site to heal faster, speed up the immune system to clear out injury, tissue debris and non-viral infections. Remedial massage can allow the digestive system return to a calm state, the hormone system can be balanced through massage, the nervous system can be calmed and restored from a state of panic, agitation and sensitivity.

Remedial massage has so many and such significant benefits to the body that it cannot be listed in totality. It can restore balance and health. It can remove pain, discomfort, tension, tweaks and pulls. It can calm senses, systems, and the mind. It can speed up improvement, recovery, and growth. It can free up muscles, digestion, constipation, and the feeling of things being stuck. Remedial massage is not just a regular massage, although there are some similar techniques - it's all about how it's used. Hello, I'm Rowan Christian, and I'll be your therapist.

Since before I had even had a massage at the age of 13, I told my parents I wanted to do Remedial Massage. They were bewildered, but encouraging.
After graduating high school I went straight into my Cert IV in massage and loved every second of it. Continuing onto my Dip. of Remedial Massage was a no brainer and further increased my love for how our bodies work.

I started RRMT to assist those who couldn't leave their homes due to the condition they were in. 12 years on and my passion is STILL found in helping those who are struggling and found a calling towards treating chronic conditions.
I cannot imagine being unable to do what I enjoy, to have to step out of the ring just because my body couldn't keep me up. This is what drives me, to restore my clients to a time before pain, to before injury, to before their body began to cheat them of life.

I aim higher than anyone and I am determined to make all who see me, recognise the ability and potential their body has.

Due to my love for how the body works, I absorb information like a sponge and I use that ability to the best I can.
I'll take on anything that slows someone down, that causes pain, that makes things harder than they need to be.

My technique is constantly evolving to better suit my clients needs, and my knowledge is always growing. To further my knowledge on how our bodies work, I'm now at UWA completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science.
My sessions are not me offering a service, this is me offering a life back.
Restoring the body, so that life can replace pain.
